Cultural Heritage

In the past, Deerubbin LALC was the only Aboriginal organisation to deal with cultural heritage within our area of operation.

Deerubbin now shares cultural heritage with 49 other groups who have put their hands up to be consulted on matters of Aboriginal cultural heritage. This is because the Office of Environment & Heritage has a policy, that anyone in any Aboriginal community in NSW may be consulted and rostered for employment on Aboriginal cultural heritage assessments, salvage, excavation and monitoring works.

Most of the fieldwork is in areas where roads, housing estates, rail lines, warehousing, factories and other businesses are required for population expansion and growth.
